Experts are still uncertain about the exact causes behind a panic disorder or panic attacks, the evidence does show however that it tends to run in families. Certain major life changes can also trigger a panic disorder such as marriage, the loss of a job, death of a family member or even graduation from college. These changes signify either a major life transition or a circumstance of extreme stress.

What researchers are now learning, is that a person’s mental activity during a panic attack suddenly moves from the front part of the brain to the mid brain, resulting in the heightened state of fear and panic, indicating that a separate part of the brain becomes more active during a panic attack.

Panic attacks help comes in many varieties with the aim being to bring anxiety and stress to normal levels so that the occurrence of panic attacks is nullified. Among the most popular forms of panic attacks help is behavioral therapy that focuses in on the root causes of anxiety and aims to bring about permanent improvements. One such behavioral therapy is Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy.

Meanwhile, another form of panic attack help involves Exposure Therapy. For instance, consider the case of Mr. X who suffers from panic attacks each time he flies. Behavioral therapy – be it Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy or Exposure Therapy – has been known to work wonders for most people in need of help.

That said always keep in mind that help for panic attacks can be also found from within. Such panic attacks help includes changes to one’s lifestyle such that more healthy living patterns are adopted. Remember that panic disorders and attacks are a curable problem, with help available to you if you so wish it.

How to stop panic attacks is a popular question I am always asked.

I’ve put together some of my own ways on how I was able to deal with panic attacks.

Having a panic attack is a truly horrible experience, ask anyone who’s had one and they won’t disagree. In the midst of a panic attack a person will feel effects like a sped up heart rate, a hard time breathing, and feelings of emptiness.

If panic attacks are a constant pain and bother in your life, you should definitely read the following article: Ways to deal with Panic Attacks

Something that I realized was that sharing my feelings with others of what I was experiencing and the ways I was coping with anxiety and panic attacks, allowed me to better handle the attacks.

I loved the fact that those I shared my experiences with took my advice and was able to better manage with their anxiety experiences. Things I had learned about living a healthy lifestyle, with a good diet and exercising on a frequent basis along with many other things I learned greatly helped me stop panic attacks I was having.

WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU HAVE A PANIC ATTACK IN PUBLIC

If a panic attack occurs while you are in the prescience of a lot of people, it can be a truly horrific experience for someone. You may start feeling that everyone is looking at you and judging you, but in reality they are not.

If you are out in public and you start having an attack than to stop panic attacks you must first remember to breath, because panic attacks are so shocking a person will a forget to breath. Take a quick second to get a hold of yourself and start paying attention to your breathing.

Somewhere you can calm down while your having a panic attack is the bathroom. You can get some privacy in a stall to give yourself a chance to calm yourself until the panic attack calms down.

Check out the following article for even more information on panic attacks: Treatment for Anxiety Attacks

STOP PANIC ATTACKS FROM INTERFERING WITH YOUR LIFE

Confronting your panic attacks early on is important in getting them treated quickly. Not paying attention to them can cause the anxiety to get worst. Something you should be doing is having a time just to relax.
Keep far from stress and negativity as they will prevent you from recovering from your panic attacks.

Meeting up with a anxiety support group would go a long ways in your recovery. If you can’t find one nearby you can always find one on the Internet. {These support groups can play a big part in helping you recover from panic attacks.}

Adding all these tips to your lifestyle can genuinely help you stop panic attacks.

Lots of people have used therapy to relieve panic disorders. Since each person and their problem is different, the amount of time the treatment can take to be effective can vary significantly. Sometimes you may need to wait several months before you can start to experience any results.

Patience is the most critical thing when undergoing panic attack therapy. One form of treatment may work for one person rather fast, while a second person might require more time, or even a mix of different therapy methods to treat their panic attacks.

Try to be open minded and don’t set specific goals for recovery such as “I’m going to quit if I don’t see any results in one month.” This is a sure way to disappoint yourself and make sure that you don’t get results. Give whichever therapy method you try a fair opportunity and give it time to show results.

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a commonly-used and often successful way to treat panic and anxiety disorders. CBT is used to encourage people start to change their thoughts and behaviors. If you are looking for anxiety or panic attack therapy treatments, it is very likely that you will encounter this in some form.

When you begin CBT, you will probably design a plan with your doctor. You may be given homework to be done on your own such as listing your individual goals that you will use to slowly expose yourself to situations that might trigger anxiety or panic attacks for you. You will probably be recording your thoughts and feelings in a journal as well as a way of looking back to see your progress in your recovery.

Depending on your situation, you may also be prescribed medication. There are a good deal of medicines for panic disorders out there that can be quite effective. Medication, though is not a solution. It just lowers your anxiety so that you can begin to try out an effective recovery program.

Here are some recommended practices you may given as part of your panic attack therapy regimen. Please consult with your doctor though before you begin any of these on your own. These tools are intended to emulate some of the physical symptoms of anxiety attacks so that you can get used to feeling them knowing that you are in full control of what is happening and gradually desensitize yourself from them.

First, you might try to breath heavily for 30 seconds or so. It is common that panic attacks begin with short and shallow breaths, so if you can start to do this voluntarily, you may start to feel more relaxed and derail an anxiety attack before it starts.

Also try spinning around several times to cause a sensation of dizziness. Dizziness is another common indicator of panic and anxiety disorders.

Jog in place or begin an aerobic work out routine to raise your heart rate and get used to that experience.

Panic attack therapy can be an effective method of curing anxiety disorders by slowly getting you accustomed to common physical symptoms of a anxiety attack. Again, it may take some persistence to see noticeable progress in your recovery so stick with whatever program or form of therapy your doctor suggests.
